ORA-39071: Value for EXCLUDE is badly formed.

Quick post more for myself as I seem to continually forget how to construct a proper EXCLUDE on the command line (no parameter file) on Linux with DataPump so here it is .

"exclude=SCHEMA:\"IN('SCHEMA1','SCHEMA2')\""

And yes the quotes before exclude and at the very end are required. This of course isn’t the only way but hopefully one I can remember.

  1. EXCLUDE is an parameter used with DataPump to filter out objects like schemas,tables, indexes etc from being exported or imported into the database.

  2. Sweet thanks! Was having an issue with the double quotes until I added the ‘\’. We use exclude to prevent static schema data from being backed-up each night. However, we’ve saved the static schema in a separate dump file if needed!
